The OS3 fluidics system with the TwinVac® Cassette and the integrated pressure sensor sets the standard. It makes possible switching within seconds between peristaltic and a real venturi pump during the operation.
Whichever vacuum or flow setting you work with, the anterior chamber remains stable at all times. In contrast to other machines, the OS3 has no tube systems with thin diameters or even filters. So the aspirated vacuum can display its full dynamic range at the tip of the opening. This results in better followability, excellent holdability of the lens fragments and easy vacuuming of thick lens material.
The OS3's fluidics benefit from the latest research in pump design. Pulsations caused by the peristaltic wheel are completely eliminated. This enables a very fine flow with low settings, which above all allows vitrectomy operations close to the retina.
With the venturi pump, vacuum composition and decomposition are measured in very small distances. Therefore, the venturi pump works extremely gently, something one usually only experiences with peristaltic pumps.
The pump system is a closed circuit. The pressure is measured in such a way that the aspirated fluid has no contact with the pressure sensor . So the risk of contamination is eliminated.
